Every year on December 3rd, people around the world celebrate the contributions of persons with disabilities. First declared by the United Nations in 1992, the International Day of Persons with Disabilities serves to increase awareness and understanding of persons with disabilities and the issues that impact their lives.
The City of Edmonton and its Community Partners are committed to creating an inclusive community that honors the contributions of all its citizens. Since December 3rd, 2003 the City of Edmonton has actively been celebrating International Day of Persons with Disabilities (IDPD). This event celebrates the ability of persons with disabilities and importance of inclusion for all citizens.
